The Charlotte Moran Memorial Fund, a 501c3 organization, has been established to honor the legacy of long-time women’s soccer advocate, Charlotte Moran, who lost her battle to pancreatic cancer in May 2009 after heroically battling the disease for nearly two years. Charlotte had been involved in soccer for more than 20 years, beginning at the grassroots level as a team manager through roles at regional and national levels. In addition to her leadership roles as the state level, she also served as the US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program Girls Region I Administrator for a number of years as well as the US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program National ODP Girls Chair.
In lieu of offering the Charlotte Moran Scholarship Award this year, Kirkwood Soccer Club will honor the memory of Charlotte Moran by donating 00.00 to the United Soccer Coaches Charlotte Moran Endowment Fund that will be announced in January 2018 at the Annual United Soccer Coaches (formerly NSCAA) Convention in Philadelphia. A Charlotte Moran Memorial Scholarship will be given to individuals dedicated to the growth of the women's/girls game and who are willing to give back to the game following their experience and who demonstrate the ability to excel at developing both players and programs.A staunch supporter of girls and women soccer players, she hosted women’s national team games in Pennsylvania, promoted the professional women’s league and encouraged clubs and schools to offer girls’ soccer.
